About this event
One of Bhutan's most attended festivals, with masked dances in the dzong courtyard and the unfurling of the giant thongdrel on the final morning.
Cultural meaning
The thongdrel blessing at dawn is the spiritual highlight — crowds gather from 4am.
What to wear
Formal dress encouraged: gho and kira, or long trousers and covered shoulders.
Photography
Ask dancers before close-ups; no flash inside the dzong.
Date note: festival dates follow official confirmation by the organiser. Lunar-calendar conversion is planning assistance only, and previous-year dates are never reused automatically.
